A Note from Jenn:
My original song, "Maiya," is about the recovery journey of my friend, Maiya. I first met Maiya and her mom, Sandra, through online eating disorder advocacy and felt deeply moved to write a song about Maiya herself that could also serve as a broader part of the recovery conversation. We then all met at the "MOM March Against Eating Disorders" in Washington, DC where we sealed the deal on our friendship and have continued to grow closer.
Maiya, thank you for your bravery, openness, and friendship. You are an incredible person and it is an honor to know you and be a part of your life. This song is my gift to you and a celebration of your spirit.
Sandra, thank you for coming into my life, being such a wonderful friend, and introducing me to your beautiful daughter.
